About

Our Story

My name’s Anthony Thomas, but some might know me as Leroy!

For the people that don’t know me;

I was put on a bike between the ages of 6 and 7 years old by my dad. As I found my feet through my late teenage years, my passion and love for motorcycles began to grow… as did my speed!

It became clear to me that the road was no place for an individual such as myself, so my eyes were drawn towards the racing scene.

At the age of 21, I bought my first race motorcycle. During the following year, with very little experience and totally naïve, I rebuilt the new racebike. Then in March 2003, on a freezing cold, soaked Brands Hatch circuit, I cut my teeth for the first time in motorcycle racing and that is where my story, and passion, truly begins.

Over the next eight years, I would progress in racing, whether it be the highs or the lows, but never wavering in my ambition to improve both me and the motorcycle of which I was racing. Through Supersport 400 into Supersport 600, and eventually into Superbike. Constantly overcoming the issues of developing as a rider and understanding racecraft, and, more importantly, developing, learning and setting up my own race bikes from the ground up.

Mistakes were often made, but were soon rectified through rigorous testing and racing generally. This allowed me to understand how a motorcycle works, and how it can be improved upon. This is what drives me.

After my time in racing, I continued to ride on track for recreational enjoyment, and continued to build and ride race-ready motorcycles.

I worked for a Husqvarna main dealer on their competition enduro and motocross bikes.  I also completed my KTM/Husqvarna engineering qualifications.

During this time, I reconnected with my old friend, Rob, who subsequently informed me of his company, Malle London, who, amongst other things, hosts the longest motorcycle rallies in the UK and Europe. He asked me if I would consider being the mechanic for the rallies and I, of course, said yes. Over the past five years, I have been the mechanic for all of the Malle Rallies.

The brain child of this company was founded during my racing years. Unfortunately, due to circumstance, it was always just a dream. However, the time has arrived to make the long awaited dream a reality, and with a lot of perseverance and hard work, I am very proud to have opened Late Apex Moto Works.
